The Belgian GP is fast approaching as the world’s best F1 drivers look to make a mark on one of Europe’s most iconic race venues.
Here, we’ll explain all you need to know about the upcoming Belgian Grand Prix.
Event Overview
The Belgian GP will be the 14th round of the current 2024 F1 championship and it’s also one of the favourite racecourses for current leader Max Verstappen.
The Dutch driver has been unbeatable here in the last three years and his rivals will be eager to stop him making it four in a row.
F1 Belgian Grand Prix 2024 Schedule
- Friday, July 26 – Race Practice
- Saturday, July 27 – Race Qualifying
- Sunday, July 28 – Race
Circuit Information
The Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps was first used in 1925 and has long been recognised as a fast course that suits the quickest drivers.
Repeatedly being modified for safety reasons, the course has undergone many changes during its run as Belgium’s racing track and widely seen as one of the best courses on the F1 calendar.
In 2018, Turn 11 was renamed Jacky Ickx as a tribute to the legendary Belgian driver. Previously, it had been known as ‘Speakers Corner as it was the first turn where the site announcer could see the cars after they had disappeared into the forest past Raidillon.
Valtteri Bottas holds the record for the fastest lap with a time of 1:46.286 in 2018.
Expectations and Pre-Race Analysis
All eyes will be on Max Verstappen as he looks to make it four wins in a row in Belgium.
The Dutch driver needs to rediscover his magic as he’s not won a Grand Prix in four races with his last success coming in Spain. This has allowed other drivers to close the gap on his lead at the top.
Lando Norris will be hoping he can chop away at that lead, but Verstappen will very much be the driver to watch in this race.

Circuit History and Memorable Moments
A circuit dominated by F1’s greatest ever drivers with the likes of Michael Schumacher and Max Verstappen turning in superb performances on the course.
Ayrton Senna and Lewis Hamilton have also performed well on the circuit, but it’s Schumacher who’s out in front with six wins in Belgium.
One of the most famous races took place at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in 1998 when torrential rain meant only eight drivers finished the race.
Schumacher and David Coulthard were almost involved in a fight over a collision, and it was Damon Hill who took victory.
