All About F1 GP Bahrain 2024

The 2024 F1 season is close to getting underway and it all gets underway in Bahrain on Saturday March 2 as the world’s best drivers go flat out in their pursuit for glory. 

What will go down this season in what promises to be a terrific campaign? All you need to know can  be found out below. 

Event Overview and Schedule 

The race is scheduled to take place on Saturday March 2 as the best drivers about try to get their season off to the perfect start. 

The drivers will practice on February 29 with qualifying set to take place on Friday March 1st

Once all that is out the way, all that is left is for the race to take place and that will happen on  Saturday March 2. 

Thursday February 29 – Practice 

Friday March 1 – Qualifying 

Saturday March 2 – Race 

Circuit Information 

With 57 laps of the track required to complete the Grand Prix, the Bahrain circuit will see plenty of  changes throughout the race with the track famed for its ability to overtake. 

Due to the circuit’s location in the desert, sand blowing onto the track in high winds can be  challenging for the drivers as they look to grab glory at one of the world’s best locations. 

Turn 12 is a highlight for drivers and fans watching as it allows those competing to really feel their  car pick up pace. 

Expectations and Pre-Race Analysis 

The course has been dominated by Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton in recent years, but can the  latter score his first victory there since 2021? 

Max Verstappen was the driver who made the Bahrain circuit look his own last year and he rightfully  starts this year’s race as an overwhelming favourite. 

Charles Leclerc is expected to provide the sternest test and he knows what it takes to win in Bahrain,  but can he win this time around and show Verstappen that he has serious competition this year?

Circuit History and Memorable Moments 

All of F1’s greatest drivers of the modern era have tasted success in Bahrain since it joined the F1  schedule in 2004. 

Michael Schumacher was the first winner of the Bahrain Grand Prix, and his success was matched  Fernando Alonso who won three of the next six events. 

After the event was cancelled in 2011 due to the Bahraini Uprising, the event became a straight battle between Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel. 

Vettel took two titles in 2012 and the following year before Hamilton matched his rival by winning  the next two. Hamilton won three consecutive evets in Bahrain from 2019-2021 before his run was  ended by Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen
