Reigning champions in Italy, Inter Milan will aim to retain their Scudetto title in the 2024/25 season. The Milan side were once again one of the favourites after rebuilding towards glory. The 2024/25 fixture calendar also saw them in the Champions League once more, hoping to overcome the disappointment of their defeat to Manchester City a couple of years ago.
Key Highlights and Matchups
In order to retain their title, attention quickly turns to AC Milan, and when their derbies are – in September and then again in January. Matches against Juventus (matchday 9 at the end of October, and then in February) would also provide stern tests, With former boss Antonio Conte at Napoli with ex-striker Romelu Lukaku alongside him, their matches in November and March carry plenty of potential needle.
Serie A Campaign
With the season bookended by away trips (Genoa in August and Como in May) the pressure was on from the first match of the season. The Milan derbies would give a chance to bloody the nose of their closest rivals last season, but matches against Napoli, Roma and Juventus could all potentially see off their most fearsome rivals for the 2024/25 season.
Home Matches
Inter Milan were given a tough match early on, in the first Milan derby of the season, against AC Milan on the fifth matchday, in September. For Inter, they were the nominal home team. October 25-27, matchday 9, was scheduled for the home game against rivals Juventus. Then on matchday 12, across November 8-10, they face Antonio Conte’s Napoli. Conte, of course, delivered Inter Serie A glory in his time there. Roma provide the stiffest home fixture in 2025, in April.

Away Matches
Inter Milan start and end their season away from home. The first match of the season was a visit to Genoa. A trip to Roma was scheduled for matchday 8, on the weekend of 18-21 October. In 2025 there are several tough trips, AC Milan at the end of January, Juventus in mid-February, followed by Napoli at the end of February. Their final match of the season appears to be a relatively easy trip to Como in May, but who knows what the pressure will be like on both teams?

Inter Milan were given a tough test off the bat in the Champions League league format, with a September away tie to Manchester City, and their fourth match saw them given a home match against another Premier League side Arsenal. The second half of the fixture list was just as demanding, with back-to-back Bundesliga opponents – Leipzig in November and Bayer in December – before finishing on 29 January with a home match against Monaco.

Group Stage Matches
As discussed above, the defence would have to be at their best against a dangerous Manchester City and a potentially threatening Arsenal. Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen will also need to be defended against well given their attacking abilities, while Monaco could be opened up at the back. Matches against Crvena Zvezda, Young Boys and Sparta Praha would have to be targeted for maximum points to avoid being knocked out in the league format.
